Hunter's Way by Gerri Hill

2.0

So I tend to like the thriller genre and am ok with having the love angle thrown in as long as the core story is good. The story line was interesting but I was not thrilled with how Tori and Sam seemed to keep falling into other cases, i.e. The big drug bust, while investigating their own case. As for the love story part, pretty formulaic. The ex boyfriend was a pain. I was hoping he was involved in the murders if only so he could get shot. I found it completely unbelievable that Sam would want to have sex with ANYONE after being gang raped, even Tori her first time female partner. Speaking of that relationship it was crazy how Tori and Sam switched roles, at least in the relationship. Sam, who has never entered into a lesbian relationship becomes the 'aggressor'. Really? And especially after being raped only a few days before? Sigh.... Finally the sex scenes themselves seemed a bit lackluster especially when compared to their heterosexual counterparts. Now the book is a romance/thriller so I get that it's not erotica, but something just seemed phoned in about it.

Overall I give it two stars because, while the core story was good, the offshoots just stretched the plausibility a bit too much for me.
