Three women are undergoing changes. Nessa is starting to hear voices, voices belonging to the dead. A gift Nessa inherited from her late grandmother. Harriett hasn’t left her house in months, her garden isn’t the only thing that’s gone through a metamorphosis. Jo is experiencing the hot flashes that come with menopause. Until she realizes that she can control the fire within her. The three women band together when Nessa asks them to follow the voices she hears. When they discover a body of a young girl stuffed into a garbage bag their investigation into her death leads them to more bodies. With their newfound abilities the three women embark on a dangerous path.

I’ve been a slow reader this November but I’m really glad it was this book that I read slowly. I’ve been looking for a book that showcases the beauty and strength of women that delves into social commentary through a feminist lens.

The writing was beautiful and the storytelling flowed perfectly. I can’t rave enough about how well this story was brought together. Multiple storylines, quick glimpses into side characters and a overall flow that made you keep thinking about the book when you weren’t reading it, pulling you to pick it up again and continue.

I do feel that the podcast angles in books are starting to lose their lustre. They’re getting to be a bit overused in my opinion.

Part thriller, part mystery, part supernatural but all around amazing.  Thank you @flaviathebibliophile for swapping books with me, this was fantastic, 4.5✨!
