As an avid “Lord of the Flies” fan, I feel like I got what the book was going for. Similarly named characters and a similar plot, “Lord of the Fly Fest” falls short mainly because I just didn’t care. I enjoyed the satire at first but it got pretty old quickly and I longed for more plot and character development. If this book was longer with more developed plot points and character relationships, I probably would have enjoyed it much more. Again, I LOVE satire and I LOVE “Lord of the Flies” but this just didn’t live up to what I wanted from it.
