This book had been sitting on my shelf for 1.5 years when I decided to finally pick it. The reason why I didn't read it for so long is because I didn't think I will enjoy this at all. I bought this impulsively and then regretted it when I read the reviews on the internet. But then...
But then I read the first 60 pages (plus the last 70 pages) and fell in love (only those pages tho). I even shed a year reading the epilogue.
So, this book was told from the pov of Choi Seo-won, whose father is responsible for this huge tragedy that killed almost an entire village 7 years ago. The son who had been suffered for 7 years because he is "the killer son". And now, when his father's death sentence was coming, he finally learned the truth.
Choi Seo-won's characterization was amazing, and the plot was pretty decent (even if it kinda messy at times). But then, the first 60 pages and the last 70 pages are the only part I really love out of 550+ pages. Hence, i give it only 3.5 stars.
It's so sad the rest wasn't told on his perspective and rather be told in this bleak third pov.
TW // murder, torture, domestic abuse, animal abuse, mass murder, self-harm, drug abuse, Alcoholism, sleep disorder, near death experience, agoraphobia
