Sister of Mine by Laurie Petrou

3.0

Two sisters. One secret. Enough said.

I really do think that this was a good novel, maybe just not enough thrilling moments for me. As a huge thriller fans, I enjoy books that are filled with twists and turns in almost every chapter, but sadly, this one didn't have that. But it still was a nice domestic drama novel to read.

I think the category that this book would fit under would be a slight psychological drama. It really makes you think how far you would go to protect a family member, or even yourself. Penny and Hattie have this major secret that they cannot tell anyone, but when a guy comes into both of their lives, favors are rewarded.

The thing about this book is that we are given the information as to what the secret is so it's not really a secret. (See what I did there?) But what makes it very interesting is the lengths one would go for another to get what they want. This book is filled with jealousy, hatred, love and secrets, of course.

There was a very little twist which is what made me give this novel a 3 star rating. Petrou places this twist near the end of the novel which changes the whole novel for you and it might even make you like the novel a little more.

I did want to give this novel a higher rating, but it simply failed for me in terms of thriller. Plot-wise, it did not.

Many thanks to Crooked Lane Books for providing me with a copy of this novel in exchange for my honest opinion.
