The Two Towers by J.R.R. Tolkien

3.0

The pacing of this book slowed down considerably in parts, particularly Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli tracking down the kidnapped hobbits and their escapades in the woods. The return of Gandalf and the Ents going to war with the greedy capitalistic orcs was spectacular and made up for a lot of this. The entire section of Frodo, Samwise, and Gollum is action paced, especially the fight with Shelob, and their friendship, along with the strain placed on it by Gollum’s presence and the ring, balanced out the book really well and sets up for the final book.
