I listened to this book in two sittings and it was the most terrifying book I have ever read (also beats every horror movie I have ever seen).

While the story itself is fiction, it is set during the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in NYC and which the author even mentions being surreal for readers to know where things are to go in the years to come while the characters are clueless.

And even more critically, the plot centers around Asian American hate, which increased exponentially during that time.

I like how the author seamlessly worked in Cora’s exploration of her own parts of herself including race, cultural identity, religion, family (I love Auntie Zeng), friends (😭) , mental health, life goals.

Also, as someone with OCD and other mental health conditions , I always need to shout-out positive rep!!
