Little Thieves by Margaret Owen
5.0
I’ll be honest. I don’t remember most of the books I read this year (I had a March-October reading slump) so I’m saying this with the confidence of someone who has a crap memory at best: THIS WAS THE BEST BOOK OF MY YEAR.
Margaret Owen was a new find for me in 2021. I read and loved The Merciful Crow and The Faithless Hawk. Little Thieves was even better than her first two - a new world and characters but the same incredible plotting and (what I’m coining) Owen’s signature wit and sarcasm in her characters (I would die for Ragne at this point). I haven’t laughed out loud in a book in a long time (or cried either for that matter). I did both. Oh and the slow burn romance y’all? Here for it.
I think the final line of her acknowledgments perfectly sums up this book for me “and lastly to all the terrible girls. It’s a lie. You deserve the world.”
READ THIS BOOK. IT IS SO GOOD.
