The Maidens by Alex Michaelides
5.0

This book exceeded my expectations! After reading The Silent Patient, I just knew that I had to continue to read books from this author. As a university student majoring in social work and dabbling in psychology, this was such an excellent read with relevant information and terms for me.

The twists and turns around every single corner was astonishing. This author truly has a way of making you believe that one person is the culprit the entire way through until it is revealed. It was so difficult to predict who had done it, which is exactly what I want in a novel like this.

Grief was described spectacularly throughout in several different contexts as well, which was something that stood out to me. The usage of therapy techniques and setting to tell the story truly made this novel one of the best I have ever read. Highly recommend!

One thing I would recommend though is reading The Silent Patient before this novel. There’s a little connection between the two main characters of each book that will make a lot more sense if The Silent Patient is read first!
