Fragile Sanctuary by Catherine Cowles

5.0

I cannot put into words how much I love this book.

“You shouldn’t hide a damned thing, Reckless. Especially not something that proves how strong you are.”

Rho and Anson are equally so great. The things they both went through were so horrible, but they survived. I like to think that’s what made it better. They came out stronger at the end and worked through all their inner demons.

It’s not uncommon that I don’t learn things from a book, a life lesson here or there. Well I learned a lot in this one. The way Rho never took a day for granted honestly opened my eyes. Knowing our days are numbered is a thought I never think about. She made every day count, she showed others how to make them count. I think that’s what stuck for me and what made this book so great. Rho was a ball of sunshine even though she had every right to hate this world.

“You’re my sanctuary. Where I feel peace. Where I feel seen. Don’t want anything more.”

This book is genuinely so beautiful and might be one of my favorites by Catherine. It’s raw and heartfelt but also so emotional. It’s not about two damaged characters finding each other. It’s more that that, it’s about Anson and Rho finding peace in uncertainty and creating a home in a chaotic world.

Okay, I’m done now. Welcome to the chaos that is my reviews.

“You didn’t sneak past my defenses, you bulldozed them. Reckless to the bone. And maybe you made me brave enough to be reckless, too.”

WHEW I LOVED ANSON. I agree with Lolli, I don’t think I could keep up with him but I’d sure as heck try. He’s everything I could want and more. I didn’t know what to expect from him after Ashes of You but he exceeded my expectations. This grump found a home in my heart and it turns out he’s perfect.

As for Rho, I’m not sure where to begin with her. She’s one of those characters you just want to give a big hug to. Every description Anson gave of her couldn’t be more spot on. She’s see the hood in bad and that’s what I love about her. She’s so optimistic and sweet and that’s what I admire the most about her.

All I’ll say is… Catherine really knows how to start a series off well. This book exceeded all hopes I ever had. Also the spice??? Yes!

Thank you to Catherine for the ARC. Not only did I get to read the book, but I got to listen to the stellar audiobook alongside it. When I tell you it’s chefs kiss I mean it. The narrators did a phenomenal job… you can’t go wrong with Zachary or Andi!

Anyways, please read this book it’s genuinely perfect. It’s romantic suspense at its best.
