Thief of Cahraman by Lucy Tempest
5.0
It's been a long time since I read something where I was hooked from the very beginning, and even more so by the end of the book. With none of my free ebooks have I immediately wanted to go out and find the sequel, but with [b:Thief of Cahraman: A Retelling of Aladdin|40933577|Thief of Cahraman A Retelling of Aladdin (Fairytales of Folkshore, #1)|Lucy Tempest|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1532402317l/40933577._SY75_.jpg|63817716] I was willing to do just that. Luckily, though, I don't have to, because it's available for free on Kindle Owners' Lending Library!
I often fall back on fairy tale retellings, not really anticipating to like them, and then falling in love with their stories and characters. The first one I read was another Aladdin retelling, this time [b:A Whole New World|24397040|A Whole New World|Liz Braswell|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1433796054l/24397040._SX50_.jpg|43981601] by [a:Liz Braswell|4788719|Liz Braswell|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1446034176p2/4788719.jpg]. It got me completely hooked on the genre, and I get very excited when I find them on Goodreads giveaways or free on Amazon.
At first I thought [b:Thief of Cahraman: A Retelling of Aladdin|40933577|Thief of Cahraman A Retelling of Aladdin (Fairytales of Folkshore, #1)|Lucy Tempest|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1532402317l/40933577._SY75_.jpg|63817716] was pretty obvious in terms of who was who in the Aladdin retelling, as well as [a:Lucy Tempest|18234025|Lucy Tempest|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1569975215p2/18234025.jpg]'s other connected series, [b:Fairytales of Folkshore|52249028|Fairytales of Folkshore Box Set 1 The Cahraman Trilogy A Retelling of Aladdin|Lucy Tempest|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1570072969l/52249028._SX50_SY75_.jpg|73620991], which feature Adelaide's friends in retellings of Beauty and the Beast and Cinderella. I thought this would make it more predictable, but everything about this story line kept me on my toes, even with the very telling description on Goodreads and Amazon.

But [a:Lucy Tempest|18234025|Lucy Tempest|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1569975215p2/18234025.jpg] has so much more of a hook from the very beginning, and I knew from a quarter of the way through that I was going to look for the sequel as soon as I could.
I think I need to alter my reading plans for June, because this storyline has me HOOKED!
