Becoming Abolitionists: Police, Protests, and the Pursuit of Freedom by Derecka Purnell

4.0

First audiobook of the year, and first book I’ve read about police brutality and abolition.

Very interesting to hear about the origins of the current police systems and proposed alternatives to that current system and mass incarceration. I will say I wasn’t completely satisfied with the alternatives supplied here and I don’t feel like a fully understand what an abolitionist world could look like. Because of this, I definitely want to read more about this topic and got some good recs from other reviews under this book.
