The Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer

3.0

I really don't know how I feel about this series anymore. Back when it was just the books, this series wasn't that terrible. I mean, it was good for what it was. Paranormal romance (especially young adult) wasn't as huge before Twilight was published, and it got plenty of people reading and gave many YA authors a chance for their books to be published.

When I think about this series (I read it before the movies came out), I wasn't much of a reader. Twilight introduced me to the YA genre and reading as a whole. So, when I think of this series, I don't really think about an engaging plot, interesting characters, etc. (this series doesn't have too much of that anyway), but rather that it got me interested in reading. For most people my age, they have the Harry Potter series to thank for that, but for me, it was the Twilight Saga. So, I suppose I have Stephenie Meyer to thank for that.

I think this series has been worn out, though. Incredibly worn out. I'm just waiting for it to be over, and I'm sure plenty of others feel the same. I guess it's unfair that I'm judging this series of books based on the movies and incredible hype surrounding it. Oh, well. Because of this, I really don't know what star rating to give this series. Five stars doesn't seem right, because it isn't that good, but I can't bring myself to give it one star. Three stars doesn't seem sufficient, either. For right now, I'm giving it no stars. Maybe some other day, I'll come to a consensus about how I feel about it.

If I were to read this series now, after being introduced to so many other authors and books, I don't think I'd be very impressed with it. But, having not much of a literary background, these books were new and exciting. Now, I'm not sure I'd like them as much.

EDIT: Meh. I'll give it three stars. I suppose, at the end of the day, I do "like" this series. I'm just ready for it to be over.
