Eight Hundred Grapes by Laura Dave

2.0

I think maybe I’m just not the right audience for this book. Despite the author’s attempts to show compromise and happiness at the end, it still felt like it was glorifying putting family/roots/longevity/etc before essential sense of self. And I’m just not here for that. I do like that they showed relationships as nuanced, many-layered things, but I feel like everything still landed in the lap of the women to figure out and handle - a narrative I’m very much over. If I had read this two years into my first marriage, I probably would have loved it.
