The General Prologue to the Canterbury Tails by Geoffrey Chaucer, James Winny

3.0

I love old British Literature so it is hardly possible for me to give an unbiased review. I do have to admit that I didn't love this one as much as I did other classics like Beowulf. I think I just prefer the heroic storyline. I have to read all of the Canterbury Tales for my British Literature class so hopefully, my review is more positive for that. It's not that I don't enjoy Chaucer, its that I am new to Middle English and find that I struggle quite a bit with it. I looked up a very modern translation of the General Prologue and I understand what I read in Middle English. I found a wonderful website that had both the Middle English and the Modern English side by side. When I read them together at the same time, I understood the story a lot more.

Here is that website in case anyone else would like to read it! (works as of 2/19/2019)
