The Life of Anna: The Complete Dark Story by Marissa Honeycutt
Did not finish book.
I’m sorry. I just couldn’t finish this one. I DNFed around 50%
The premise was super interesting to me. What caused me to stop reading was a combination of things. I didn’t find myself really liking any of the characters. I wasn’t terribly fond of the love interest. The heroine was (understandably) naive and flighty and as much as I get why she was the way she was, I did not enjoy being in her head.
The book has some seriously dark content, which doesn’t bother me, but at a certain point it became repetitive and gratuitous.
I love dark romance and I will go through a lot to get to a satisfying conclusion, but when I realized I didn’t like either of the main characters and I still had at least 1500 pages left of what was likely to be a lot of rape and torture, i had to put it down. I just couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel.
I was recommended this by a lot of people.
So clearly it worked for some and I’m not saying it won’t work for you. It just didn’t work for me.
