Altogether enjoyable, but with a few pet peeves of mine that soured things a smidge. I did like a lot of it, the major plot points were interesting, I liked seeing more of the dragons. But the constant talking about how tiny Talasyn is and how big and burly Alaric is got real old real quick, as did the sniping between them. It tipped from banter into reminding me of unhappy couples I've known. I am definitely curious enough to listen to the third book when it comes out though!
Graphic: Animal cruelty, Death, Emotional abuse, Physical abuse, Sexual content, Torture, Toxic relationship, Violence, Death of parent, Injury/Injury detail
Moderate: Child abuse, Confinement, Genocide, Panic attacks/disorders, Grief, Abandonment, Alcohol
The book opens on a scene where a bird is having scientific experiments done on it, and the bird is pictured sporadically throughout the story in various states of poor health due to the experiments.
