Steele by Margo Bond Collins

Quick Summary: A shapeshifter romance

My Review: Steele by Margo Bond Collins is book one in a new para-fantasy romance series. It features an alpha lead named Steele Jacobs and a human woman named Mila Wright.

About the Book:

Mila - > This was meant to be the one of the happiest moments in her life. She was getting married tomorrow, after all. Everything changed, however, when she suffered the cruelest betrayal of all. There would be no reconciliation for her and her ex. She couldn't get away from him fast enough. Unfortunately, in getting away from her fiance, she inadvertently placed herself in harm's way. Who would save her from what was surely a sudden death?

Steele - > Being alpha to his pack was no hardship. He cared about his family and would always look after them. Sometimes, if he was being honest, he wanted more. He wanted someone to share his life with. He knew what he could do for the good of his pack, but... Too much was going on for him to dwell on any of that, especially now that a threat was upon his family. Would he ever get a chance to find his mate?

My Final Say: I liked this book. It was a good start to what has the potential to be a solid series. It moved at a slow to moderate pace. It introduced a number of interesting characters. It had minimal conflict, while also laying the groundwork for more. It had a satisfying ending and an enticing hint at what comes next.

I think readers will enjoy meeting the Moonstone pack. They seem to have a lot going for them.

Other: While I liked the book enough to give the next book a chance, I will say that there was one negative reference to the female lead that I genuinely did not care for. It was related to her size. I was incredibly disappointed to see her referred to with such unflattering language at times. With that said, it was refreshing to read about a full figured lead. Right on!
