At first this kind of reminded me of Game of Thrones, but not even halfway through the plot is kind of abandoned in favor of mostly rape scenes and coercion.

I have to give dues where they are owed- the writing is actually pretty good, and some of the consensual sex scenes (few and far as they are) are steamy and well written. However I can't, in good standing, recommend this book to anyone. The female MC is tormented over the course of 300 pages, constantly raped and coerced into sex by the two MMCs.

Liv Zander perpetuates violence against women, coercion, lack of consent, sexual violence, all under the guise of kink and genre. We are meant to feel sad for the guilty with the gnarly backstories she provides, which only further perpetuates the toxic idea that it's okay to rape and be violent in bed without consent, and "no, stop" actually means "hurt me and violate me, I like it!" so long as there's some sad mental health related reason. It's so dangerous and misogynistic that I was half expecting a man to be writing with a female pseudonym.

Alas, the writer is indeed a woman, which is almost worse.

Fans of 50 shades and Anne Rice's Sleeping Beauty, and also fans of rape, will be pleased.
