  • Plot- or character-driven? Character
  • Strong character development? No

  • Diverse cast of characters? No
  • Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

3.5

this book was an emotional, queer story that i enjoyed for the most part.

  • there were a few scenes that i definitely could have gone without ever having read/listened to
(the scene where oliver helps elio shit? and then they look at each other's feces?
    like, why?).
  • some scenes were so... intimate. sensual. the scene
    with the peach,
particularly, was way more enjoyable than i found it to be in the film.
  • oliver and elio are both complex, realistic characters, and i appreciate that about them.
