This book was so hard to read compared to the first which I absolutely loved. The first 10 chapters just dragged out so much, with confronting dystopian themes that I did not like to read. The torture of the main character was something that didn’t need to be expressed so deeply and I understand you want to reveal the different experiences and how much it hardened the main character but I feel the book could have benefited from less of that. The gore and abuse is something I don’t want to read about and did not expect in this book especially in relation to children.
