OMG! Oh, how I love being a reader.
You know that exhilarating feeling when you are so enthralled by a story and you lose yourself completely in the pages of the book and you just don't want it to end but then it does?? That's exactly how I felt last night at 1 am after finishing this book.
Thank you to the girlies on TikTok that kept recommending this book and made me finally read it but why did no one mention that the next book is not out yet????? The TORTURE.
Getting to the story itself, I loved the unique blend of Greek mythology lore and myths and this kind of post-apocalyptic world. I usually don't like books with games in them like Hunger Games but this one was exquisite
Despite the heavy topics, violent scenes and the utter misery this poor poor girl goes through, this book had me cackling so much it surprised me. Loved the sarcasm and the banter between Alexis and Nyx.
It did feel a bit annoying at times when she didn't explain her situation and simply went with the abuse Patro and Achilles inflicted. It's her trauma I know but still. I was waiting for her to snap and put them in their places and when she did it was sublime.
Loved her resilience.
As for the love story, it is DARK. So be aware.
Tbh it is a subplot in this book and it doesn't come to fruition until the last chapters but the seeds are planted way early and you get to enjoy the chase and the yearning. Which was nice to read (despite the clear depravity and toxicity of the two). I cannot wait for her retaliation!!!
I'm honestly so excited for book two, these next months are going to be torture I just know.
