I loved Essie so much in this book. Not only because she is an amazing friend to Rix, but because she so unapologetically herself. Nate had a lot of self reflection and growing to do, which leads to character development, which I love. Much like Tristan he had a lot of self reflection to do before he could successfully have a relationship. It definitely made me wonder how he had a serious relationship at all previously. 
I really liked the whole they kissed right after high school and then only saw each other after Rix and Tristan got together. 

This is definitely a summer read. Lots of summer vibes throughout the whole book. There is definitely spice, though no fixation on a certain fruit (though it’s not an official Terror book, and the cucumber is of coursed mentioned). I’m very excited for Dread and Connor book!
