A Children's Bible by Lydia Millet
3.5
challenging dark tense fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Plot
Strong character development: Complicated
Loveable characters: Complicated
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

A fever dream -- at some points it felt like engaging with a blended fan fiction piece with angsty journal written by a teenager, at other times it had a rare kind of shocking elegance to it. I'm glad I stuck through to the end. For those a fan of dystopian, I would recommend. Part of me wishes it made more sense, and part of me gets that it's just one of those things that is maybe best expressed through total its total oddness. I'd be lying if I said it's not memorable.

I agree with other reviews that the diversity of the cast is lacking, though that may be intentional as well. I'm beginning to assume it was, to show a certain kind of specific soul sickness that belongs only to the super-wealthy.
