Really really enjoyed this - such warmth and heart, with really engaging characters and a beautiful coming of age and self actualization arc. May the world have more and more of these fairy tales that we can work together to help feel closer to real life
HOWEVER I do need to say that this book has a massive name vs pronoun problem - the number of times I had to read Gene and Luis in every single paragraph was absolutely egregious. This was especially awful during the sex scenes and detracted from the (well built and earned!) intimacy. I can’t believe none of the editors cut the names down by at least half and made everything so much less awkward and amateurish. As a decades long connoisseur of gay fanfiction I KNOW it can be done more elegantly than this and it’s annoying that a tradpub dropped the ball on something so simple
