Good Citizens Need Not Fear: Stories by Maria Reva

4.0

Such a surprisingly different and interesting way to write about the difficult life in Ukraine. It was absolutely filled with ironic humor and absurdity. While the words "humor" and "Ukraine" don't seem to fit together at all right now, Reva has given us both a feeling of sadness/devastation and showed us the power of the human spirit to laugh even when things seem to be at their worst. While technically this is a book of short stories, they are linked together by people and place so closely that it reads more like a novel.
