This was a blast to read from the start! Interesting characters that felt like they could be real people. A fun, adventurous story. I’m an art history nerd, so I liked stopping every now and then to go down rabbit holes about different pieces of art mentioned or certain periods of Chinese history so I had a frame of reference.
Also this book had a lot of heart. The hopes, dreams, and fears of the characters all were very strong, you could tell the Grace D. Li put a lot of thought into the individual stories she was telling about each character and their identities.
Oh and of course there’s a fun sapphic enemies to lovers storyline <3
