I feel like Chris Whitaker is the male Kristin Hannah (hey, even this cover is very Kristin Hannah lol). As a big fan of Hannah, I really enjoyed this one. They told of the same story of strenght, perseverance and family. The struggles and reality of life. It took me a while to get into the story but once I did, I couldn't stop. Finished it at 3 AM because I NEED to know how it ends.
I started off disliking Duchess. I mean, I get why she is the way she is but at the start, I didn't like her attitude. By half-way, I care for her deeply. Her sorrow and struggles, her love and compassion, her wit and strength, her perseverance.
