A Final Act of Cruelty by Edward Lorn
5.0
The twisted promise of Edward Lorn's first half of Cruelty is more than fulfilled by A Final Act of Cruelty. Throughout the second half, the author further explores the minds, histories, and motivations not only of the protagonists, but also of the presumed villains of the piece. In fact, as the story proceeds, the characterizations get more complex and it isn't quite as easy to know for whom one should be rooting. The author also pulls off the impressive feat of making the story feel both grander and more personal at the same time. Once can't easily guess where it will all end up, but it all makes sense in the end. An excellent and satisfying conclusion to a rousing tale.
