Flights
by Olga Tokarczuk
WHAT a bizarre book. It was a dense and dizzying dream of embalmed bodies, lost children, Greek plays, hotel keys, grapes, slow madness, French kings, ancient men, tattoos, pilgrims, airports... more vignettes and prose poetry than anything else, it somehow made sense as a novel. It was brilliant and beautiful and far too long.
