A Half Forgotten Song by Katherine Webb

4.0

A well-written book, no doubt. The narration alternates two different time frames in a way that makes you want to keep reading. However, this didn't draw me in completely, as the story had a certain creepy atmosphere around it and the events were so incredible that they were almost fantastical. It's not a story you can relate to easily, in short.

The present story was the one that worked better for me, since the characters seemed more realistic. I was moved when, right at the beginning, Zach's daughter moves to America and he wonders what kind of Dad he will be with a daughter so far away from him. The story develops slowly but the pieces are put together neatly. I especially like the part when Zach finally talks with his grandmother and the things she said.
