akarr 's review for:
The Bell Jar
by Sylvia Plath
Absolutely beautiful, and profoundly sad. I'll have to read some of her poetry and come back to this I think. (2016)

When I first read this, I identified so strongly with Esther. The way Esther looses herself was so familiar to me, it was like looking in a mirror. It's weird to re-visit this as an adult in a completely different headspace, to be able to observe this experience with empathy without getting lost in it. I don't think I ever need to return to this again.
