Twenty-Four Hours in the Life of a Woman
by Stefan Zweig
Zweig is my favourite author and when I saw this lovely small book, I immediately wanted it. It is wonderfully familiar to those who have read Zweig's other works as it is a story within a story, a tale divulged to the initial narrator that is then recounted to the reader. Zweig's writing is, as per usual, beautiful and charming, whilst being extremely heartfelt and dense with emotion. It's a delightful short story, which aches with its character's pains and heartbreaks. It wasn't my favourite piece by Zweig but it is more of a warm, familiar embrace and a reminder for me to read more of his work.
