I’m going to start with: I liked this more than the first one!

Charlotte was the heroine of my dreams, and the Austen references we’re wonderful. (The fact that these show development for her too as the story progresses was great writing). The chemistry between Charlotte and Alex was absolutely amazing from the start. This is a book where they only are enemies for the sake of convenience and it’s just so wonderful.

Seeing characters from The Wisteria Society Of Lady Scoundrels return was great, and seeing Lady Armitage return in her full villainess glory was what I loved about her characters in this book. Constantinopla and Cecilia making (rather large) re-appearances was wonderful.

The rivalry between the wicked league and the wisteria society was just perfect. The only thing I really missed on the Wicken League front is how not-organised it is compared to the wisteria society.

Minor characters and villains from the last book were written in well enough to not distract, but a few made me cackle (See: “Her father must’ve been a poet” when referring to Morvath.)

A 4.75 ⭐️ overall, and a cute, light read, but with depth and well written wit. Loved it!
