challenging
this is very thought provoking. it challenges you to examine your own habits and what you believe to be required for a happy life.
not all of it is practical or achievable depending on who or where you are, but it’s not impossible to get there in spirit. i can’t grow a vegetable garden in my city apartment, for example, but i can join a local community garden.
i thought the section on gift economies and reciprocity was super interesting, albeit hard to implement. ive been told so many times to “just hire someone” when id rather trade favors with friends. that’s a whole social world we’re missing out on.
overall this validated some of my anxieties about overconsumption and gave me some new ideas to chew on. i definitely want to read more since this was pretty short and broad
