The Truth about Forever by Sarah Dessen
5.0

My first and favorite Dessen book. After that, everything becomes kinda formularic, not gonna lie. I've developed a theory that whichever Dessen book you read first will no doubt triumphs all the other ones. Because after the first one, they all started to become pretty predictable...I've only made it as far to This Lullaby and Just Listen and I can't bear to read any more of her books. AHh, enough of the negativity, though.
I recently reread this book to see if I was too hasty in my five stars rating two years ago. Plus, I'm going through a phase where I can't decide what to read next so might as well go through my reread pile. The Truth About Forever is pretty straightforward. It's simple yet touchingly sweet. You can sorta see everything coming together--there aren't any major plot twists or surprises. And this might sounds like a bad thing but it makes the story more believable and realistic somehow. I love my fantasy and paranormal books but some times I need a break in between and this book falls right into that category.
If you're looking for something fun to pass the time then you should definitely check out this out. The plot is nothing new. Girl/boy suffers from family misfortunes but Dessen managed to weave this story and its characters into something unique. I lovessss Wes (even his name is cool ok). He's one of those characters that I can truly see to exist in real life. Delia and Kristy are both delightful as well.
