The Cruel Prince by Holly Black

I don't know what to say. I can't find words yet. All I can say right now is I love this book. I love the plot twists. I even love the main characters despite how problematic they are. I need the second book now. Ughhh
As far as how I feel about characters:
Jude: I love Jude!! I love how she went from just wanting to belong to wanting to best them. I know how she goes about it isn't necessarily the right way but that's what I love about her character.
Cardan: I have love/hate feelings about Cardan. I hated him in the beginning. He was such a big bully. However, I love him the the second part of the book. He acts like weakling, a fool, and a drunk but he's also quite clever. His relationship with Jude despite being unhealthy is entertaining to read. And I'm actually still rooting for those two just because they're just that entertaining and it would be interesting to see how once they actually accept their feelings for each other play out. I still can't forgive him for what he and his posse did to Jude in the first part of the book and I hope Jude makes him pay for it more.
Locke: I hate Locke but he's such an interesting character that I want to read about him more. Also, I hope there comes a time where Jude makes his life a living hell. Can't forgive a guy who plays with other people's feelings just to entertain himself.
Taryn: I dislike her but I still have hope that deep down in her heart she still cares for her sister. I hope she makes up with Jude. I hope that if Holly Black ever plans to redeem her character, she does a good job with it.
As for the rest of the characters, I'm just "meh" about them or I don't have as strong feelings for them. I don't really know what to write about them. I love Viviene but that's pretty much all I can say about her.
Is this book even considered romance. I don't even think this book is considered romance. At least not this 1st book of the series. It could very well change in The Wicked King, however.
