Black England: A Forgotten Georgian History
by Gretchen Gerzina
Insightful into the lives of people of color in England during the Georgian period. The work describes all the various roles that we know individuals found themselves in, whether enslaved, working as servants, or freed individuals running their own businesses. The book includes individuals who fought for abolition, both white and black. Additionally, it makes interesting comparisons between the US and Britain and the history they share. All the information is backed up with either specific individuals or primary sources from the time. A very interesting and definitely needed book if interested in the period.
