I thought the writing style/layout was unique as the main character gets very minimal dialogue or first-person narration. It’s mostly all told through the eyes of her husband, BIL, and sister. F*ck all these men in this book. This book spoke a lot to Korean culture and social issues, which can be applied internationally I imagine. It was an intriguing read and I found myself wanting to know what happened. But at the same time, it was a tough read. Gruesome, at times disturbing/enraging, slow-paced, long narrations that didn’t always move the plot along. I can see the ways this book goes into deeper layers and social commentary, but I personally didn’t necessarily ‘enjoy’ reading it. Finished it to see what happens and it’s short. I respect for what it stands for and its creativity but also not sure I’d highly recommend.
