I loved this story so so much!! It was such a unique premise and I feel like Shea Ernshaw is going to be an automatic author buy for me now!
The Wicked Deep was creepy and captivating from the very beginning. I absolutely LOVED the author's writing style, especially how she wove the legends of the town and the Swan Sisters into the narrative. The characters in the book were likable and relatable, while also being interesting and mysterious. I found some plot points to be a bit predictable - but this wasn't a bad thing. I wanted to anticipate when the reveal would happen and how the other characters would react. There were a few times where I actually second guessed myself over a potential plot point and then had my mind blown when the actual event occurred! I loved how everything came together in the end - it wasn't neatly wrapped up in a bow, but everything made sense, and sometimes those are the best endings. I love how subtle all the finer details were and it made the ending much more impacting. I also thought that the author's pacing was spotless - I never thought the story dragged or lulled and I couldn't put it down!
Honestly, this was a solid debut novel. After my best friend hyped it up to me for two weeks, I can happily say that it was worth every second.
