Listening to this audiobook within my 21 day check out window was a feat made possible only by increasing the playback speed to 1.5 and a week off for spring break. As with all books in this series, the plot moves slow, which is kind of the point of reading them. Before getting into the slow flow of the story, I felt frustrated at the beginning when 7 hours of the book had gone by and they were still within the same day of the attempted weddings at River Run! As I continued listening however, and re-immersed myself  within the story world, I felt less bothered by the pacing. Either things moved faster, or I grew content moving slower. Overall, I enjoyed the growth of Jamie and Claire’s family and Rodger and Brianna’s relationship, as well as the various political intrigues and mysteries that the Fraser/Mackenzie’s find themselves involved in. I enjoyed this season of the show — even though there were some difficult, heavy parts — and liked the book even more for its level of detail and connection between all of the plot points. I once again found myself not wanting the book to end when I reached the conclusion (one day before it was due 😅) and look forward to reading the next book in the series when the library loan comes in.
