The Summer I First Saw You by Elizabeth O'Roark

3.0

Predictable. Less explicitly spicy than I thought it was going to be.  Just taboo enough where it’s a bit forbidden but not gross. Tho i feel like the author tried too hard to keep reminding us that he knew her as a kid, which made it feel a bit gross. I still liked the main characters. Their love for keeping secrets and keeping thoughts to themselves got annoying though. Also their whole relationship and why they love to be around one another is 100% just bc of lust. They bond over surfing and that’s it. Most of the time they are either thinking about sex or actually getting each other off. I don’t think this relationship would  work out if it was real, but I’m happy this is fictional bc I can be content with it. Even tho they spend most of their time with sex on the brain, there’s only like one full explicit sex scene. The others are just making each other orgasm and/or “he ate me out and I sucked him off. Then he railed me against the kitchen counter.” It’s not explicit but it is frequent.
