This story presents a twist on the classic Pride and Prejudice, with Darcy's cold and distant behaviour in the original tale explored and explained by him being a spy there to monitor Sir Lucas as a suspect of treason. Darcy struggles to keep to his mission as he falls in love with Elizabeth, whose spirited and intuitive nature draws her into danger as she tries to uncover Darcy's secrets.
While an interesting plot, I felt the story dragged on and had too many fantastical events and choices to make it a good read. I did, however, enjoy Mr Bennet's character, particularly his love and sacrifices for Elizabeth as well as the hidden reason for his enforcing their solitude from the dangers of the world.
