The Janus Stone by Elly Griffiths

A bit too similar to the first book for my tastes:
Spoilersomeone is obsessed with history to the point of insanity (though I do like the historical facts I glean through these books). The killer targets Ruth for no particularly good reason. A lot of men are simultaneously in love with Ruth, even though she'd been single for quite a while before the first book. Someone leaves a dead animal on her doorstep. They even had the same grammatical error "didn't that/they use*d*", which was particularly grating.
But I'll probably give more books in this series a try - there's so many, they can't all be the same, can they? The main characters' personal lives are also pretty interesting and I'm keen to see how the relationships develop.
