Three Things about Elsie by Joanna Cannon
4.0

Right now Goodreads is showing a 3.8 rating, and as I was reading, I thought that that’s exactly how I’d rate it. But the ending brought me to full 4 stars… and to tears.

I noticed - and appreciated, how the story coloring turned from spooky and anxious, to sarcastic and funny, to plain realistic and sentimental. It kept my attention where in others books, I would’ve felt it’s dragging the story out a bit. Don’t get me wrong, I still got impatient a few times. But not bored.
I’m glad I got through the first few chapters and didn’t give up. It was hard to fall into the rhythm of the story, probably until Jack came along.

The only thing, I would’ve wanted to see Ronnie suffer. Not live a full long life, when others, affected by him, left early. Not just be calmly arrested. But to suffer. To pay some sort of price. We have enough of that in real life… let us at least have proper justice in the fictional story. That’s all.
