Give Me a Reason
by A.L. Jackson
3/5 ⭐️s
•Single Dad Trope
•Good Girl/Bad Boy
•Touch Her And I’ll Kill You Vibes
This book had A LOT that I like. Trent in dad mode had my heart, and I loved how protective he was over Eden and Gage (Genuinely the CUTEST kid I’ve ever read). Eden is so good without coming across as TOO good. That’s a hard line to balance, but I thought AL Jackson did great with it.
One of my favorite parts of this romance is how broken Trent and Eden both are, but they somehow fit their shattered and jagged pieces together. There were times Trent came across as a bit too self-sacrificing, but I can see why with his past.
My only drawback with this book was the prose (which, I swear, I never pay attention to). The writing was overly descriptive, using five metaphors to describe a single feeling then doing it again. It honestly became exhausting to read, and I eventually ended up skimming through them. Some people will probably really love it and recognize a beauty to it that I didn’t have the patience for. It just wasn’t for me.
Overall though, I’m happy I got through the overflow of adjectives to get to this love story. It had twists and turns, and my heart ached at times, but it was a really wonderful romance about healing and finding love.
