I'm struggling to understand why this book series is getting so much hate. The first book, fine, the first 2/3 dragged and laboured, but it did hit it's stride. This book has well and truly kept up the momentum. It's not Tolkien and that's fine. What a boring world it would be if that was a requirement of the genre. This is a perfectly enjoyable high fantasy with solid pacing, good character development, some nice little twists and a sufficiently opaque plot that I'm genuinely interested in where it will go next.
