The Serpent and the Wings of Night by Carissa Broadbent

4.0

I gave The Serpent and the Wings of Night a solid 4/5, and I really enjoyed it! The world-building in this book is dark, gritty, and full of vampires, which gave it a fresh feel compared to other fantasy books I’ve read. I was pulled right into this dangerous world, and the way everything was crafted kept me hooked from the start.

The main character is strong, determined, and doesn’t take any nonsense, which made her journey really fun to follow. The tension between characters and the power dynamics were compelling, and I found myself fully invested in the different relationships and alliances as the story unfolded.

While I did give it a 4/5, I felt like there was just something missing that I can’t quite put my finger on. Maybe I was hoping for a bit more emotional depth or a stronger connection in certain moments. But overall, it’s a fantastic read, and I flew through it.

The Serpent and the Wings of Night is a great fantasy book with rich world-building and strong characters. I’m excited to see where the story goes next, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys dark, intense fantasy!
