The Sight by Chloe Neill
5.0

The Sight is the second book in this series, and one I was very eager to make a start on as soon as possible. The threat of the Veil being opened has gone, but a new threat is in town, and Claire must find a way to not only save the ones she loves, but also the lives of humans and paras.

Ezekiel is the leader of Revellion, a group who want to see the zone cleansed of all paranormals and sympathisers, be they paranormal or not. They have no qualms about setting things alight or bombing Devil's Isle to make their point, and cause as much havoc as possible. Claire, Gunnar, Tadji, Liam, with the help of Delta, must find a way to stop Revellion and save their friends, without giving away their secrets. But when forces combine it's not going to be an easy task to avoid detection.

The Sight is a book that definitely has to be read in order. Whilst the first book did a lot of world building and history of the world, The Sight has less magic history, but more movement and character building. I felt like the plot itself was more fluid, leading us towards a definite end, but also let us see the characters grow and show what they are truly capable of as they are all pushed to their limits. We are also taken away from the city, and get to explore more areas as the characters leave their safety behind to look for clues on the enemies whereabouts, or for more training.

I enjoyed reading The Sight much more than The Veil, I went into this book with the characters, the world, and the history fresh in my head, and I was really happy to see that it's only mentioned slightly, and the main focus of the book is this new war and how it affects everybody. I loved getting to see the characters grow, especially getting to see Claire use her magic more and really push herself. There were some shock moments in the book, with secrets revealed. I loved the action and suspense in this book, never really knowing when Revellion would strike again and if Claire will finally get caught.

The final chapters of The Sight had me on the edge of my seat, desperate to find out how it all ends, but also nervous beyond belief. What happens during these chapters was not expected at all, and I had to re-read the paragraphs to make sure I had actually read it correctly.
