Almost Damned by Christopher Leibig

4.0

Almost Damned is the sequel to Almost Mortal but can be read as a standalone novel - for reference I haven't read Almost Mortal. The book follows Samson (Sam) Young, a defense attorney, as he argues a case on behalf of the descendants of Fallen Angels. What I liked most about this book was all the different genres it incorporates - it's a legal drama with suspense/thriller vibes as well as some fantasy and religious aspects. The premise is very unique and I think the author did a great job executing it. The book is fast paced and definitely kept me turning the page to find out what would happen next. One thing I will say is that there are a lot of characters and a couple with multiple names so it was confusing at times. Thankfully the author does include a reference of all the characters at the beginning of the book, which I found myself flipping back to frequently.
